Current productions

Golem

Drawing on the Golem myth - the story of a man who fashions a creature out of clay to work for him - as a starting point, 1927’s Golem is a dystopian fable for the 21st century, cleverly and satirically exploring who or what is in control of our technologies?

Currently touring. Available from December 2017.

New small scale production from 2019

A brand new 1927 show suitable for small-scale touring and very portable with all staging travelling with the company. Like all 1927 theatre shows, it will be like a graphic novel exploding onto the stage, blending 1927’s synthesis of hand made animation, claymation, live music and performance.

Petrushka & L’Enfant et les Sortilèges*

1927’s second collaboration with the Komische Opera Berlin is a double bill of Stravinsky’s Ballet Burlesque and Ravel’s Lyric fantasy. Featuring 1927’s fusion of synchronised performance, live music and animation and for the first time circus, to create a visual, aural spectacle double bill.

* Produced by Komische Opera Berlin – available for touring and licencing.

The Animals and Children took to the Streets

Welcome to the Bayou Mansions; a sprawling stinking tenement block, where curtain-twitchers and peeping-toms live side by side, and the wolf... is always at the door. When Agnes Eaves and her daughter arrive, does it signal hope in this hopeless place, or has the real horror only just begun?

To be revived in 2018, available for touring from Summer 2018.

The Magic Flute*

1927’s first opera production. Co-created with and produced by Komische Oper Berlin, The Magic Flute is a reimagining of Mozart’s Opera staged with opera performers interacting with original hand-made animation, transporting the audience into an enchanted world where good faces the forces of darkness.

* Produced by Komische Opera Berlin – available for touring and licencing.
