Cheek by Jowl is an international touring theatre company dedicated to producing fresh and vivid productions that focus on the actor's art. Led by Co-Artistic Directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod since its formation in 1981, Cheek by Jowl produces work in English, French and Russian.

The company has performed in more than 380 cities across 50 countries, spanning six continents.

A new Cheek by Jowl production

Following the international success of the critically acclaimed Measure for Measure, Cheek by Jowl will be developing a new production in partnership with Pushkin Theatre, Moscow, to be performed in Russian with surtitles.

Available from January 2019.

Shakespeare's Measure for Measure

Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure performed in Russian with surtitles.

Hailed in Moscow as “a shattering portrait of contemporary Russia” (Novaya Gazeta), Cheek by Jowl’s Russian company returns with a production “so electrifyingly intense and disturbing that they make your hair stand on end” (The Times).

Shakespeare’s Pericles, Prince of Tyre, performed in French with Surtitles.
