NoFit State Circus

Trade fair

NoFit State was founded in 1986 by five friends as a creative reaction to the world around them.

Today, its vision is still shaped by and responds to the political, social and cultural contexts around it. It is driven by the desire to create powerful performances that explore and push the boundaries of accepted artforms in new and revelatory ways.

It makes work that fuses large-scale imagery, circus, theatre, live music and innovative design. The company lives together and travels together, touring its critically acclaimed performances in a big top and public spaces across the world.

In the press

“The company exudes an enticingly musky scent of vagabond glamour”
The New York Times

“Grand physical / visual poetry, (…) exuding a huge, restless party vibe.”
The Times

Twenty oversized blocks are deconstructed and reformed indefinitely for the performers to play on, move with and explore. What happens when dance and circus collide? When they converge, rub against each other, blend into one another?

Block is a collaboration between NoFit State and Motionhouse, a highly physical exploration of the human condition.

This brand new show for the big top takes the work of the company and the long term collaboration with director Firenza Guidi (ImMortal, tabù, Bianco) to the next level: a circus show for seated audiences in the round, celebrating the roots and heritage of traditional circus and showcasing state of the art techniques.

NoFit State’s new creation, premiering April 2018.
