Fagin's Twist

Avant Garde Dance Company and The Place present

Seeking creative release from a successful career in the commercial dance industry, choreographer Tony Adigun formed Avant Garde to explore more unusual, abstract and artistic ideas away from the mainstream. At the forefront of hip hop / contemporary dance theatre, the company’s dynamic productions have musicality at their core and embrace a myriad of styles, themes and other genres including poetry, film, circus and multi-media.

Based on the story of Oliver Twist, Fagin’s Twist tells the untold tale of a notorious, complex and perhaps misunderstood villain. Exploring character and story through beautifully textured duets and dynamic group choreography, the show imagines Fagin’s youth, driven by greed and ambition in the face of overwhelming poverty. Fresh, exciting and visually striking, the production exemplifies Adigun’s desire to challenge conventions and break boundaries.
