Heads Up

Kieran Hurley with Show and Tell

Kieran Hurley is a multi-award winning playwright, performer and theatre-maker based in Glasgow. His work frequently involves cross-artform collaboration and plays anywhere from main stages and studios to non-conventional spaces. Kieran’s writing, though formally inventive, is rooted in humanity and humour, and is driven by a fierce politics. As well as appealing to people interested in contemporary theatre, his work often attracts new and different audiences - particularly young people interested in live music, protest culture, and stand-up.

Fast paced, full of wit and poetic insight, Heads Up is a stripped-back solo performance that requires minimal equipment to stage while delivering a highly theatrical and technically innovative storytelling spectacle. Sitting at a desk, Kieran weaves a whirlwind story of a city on the brink of apocalypse - a metaphor for the anxieties and constant crises of 21st Century life. Lit in a self-contained design from the desk, Kieran triggers and operates an inventive sound design through the use of audio samplers onstage.
