KILN in association with Birmingham Repertory Theatre

Associates at the prestigious Birmingham Repertory Theatre, KILN is an ensemble-led company that plunders epic stories and filters them through personal experience to create new and relevant narratives. Collaborating with artists across a range of disciplines, their productions – which can vary significantly in terms of style, scale and form – have been presented in a range of contexts from traditional theatres and festival settings to the back of van, a gothic church and a mine 30 metres underground.

Borrowing from Birmingham’s well-documented Heavy Metal traditions, the company reinvents the Greek myth of Clytemnestra; casting her harbingers of vengeance as front women of rock band THE FURIES. Part gig, part promenade performance, the show is a 60-minute exploration of rage and revenge that places a powerful trio of women's voices at its heart. With a pounding soundtrack created by two talented multi-instrumentalists, the company distils the original tale into a passionate, imaginative and atmospheric piece of music-theatre exploring a universally resonant tale of a woman wronged, her aggressor and his mistress.
