Total Immediate Collective Imminent Terrestrial Salvation

National Theatre of Scotland production in association with the Royal Court Theatre, Teatro do Bairro Alto, Lisbon and Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA), Co-commissioned with Royal Court Theatre

Overview

The National Theatre of Scotland doesn’t have its own building, but instead brings theatre to venues ranging from the biggest stages to the smallest community halls. As Scotland’s national theatre, it showcases Scottish culture at home and around the world. Its past Edinburgh Fringe hit shows include Black Watch and The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart.

Tim Crouch has established a reputation as one of the UK’s most progressive and thought provoking writer/performers, and has toured extensively in the UK and internationally. His work rejects theatrical conventions and makes the most of the live encounter with its audience. He recently created his first TV series for the BBC, Don’t Forget the Driver, starring co-writer Toby Jones.

Total Immediate Collective Imminent Terrestrial Salvation features three performers, including Crouch. It explores the story of a man who manipulates a group of people to believe in something that isn’t true. Audience and actors turn the pages of the play script together, reading and observing illustrations, as the action unfolds. At times, audience members are invited to read aloud. Exploring manipulation and the nature of truth in an age of political misdirection, this promises to be a thrilling and intense theatrical experience.

Total Immediate Collective Imminent Terrestrial Salvation premieres in Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh International Festival.
