Two Man Show
An Associate Company at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds, multi-award winning RashDash is led by Abbi Greenland and Helen Goalen. Always placing performers and performance at the centre of the work, they investigate radical feminist ideas through a highly crafted combination of physical movement, text and live music. With no single medium prioritised above another, the company aims to speak to the feeling body as much as the cerebral brain.
Two Man Show exploits the story of two brothers’ struggle to be ‘good men’ as a vehicle to explore prehistory and the origins of patriarchy, 'masculinity' and ‘femininity'. Existing in a counterpoint between text and movement, conventional story telling and character, and abstract images and movement, the show illustrates how patriarchy is bad for everyone, male and female, and how our language reinforces ‘masculine’ values. Underpinned by high production values and Becky Wilkie’s impressive live sound score, this loud and raucous show provocatively challenges the notion that gender is binary.
Please note at points during the show performers will be naked (non threatening and not sexual nudity).
